The Adobe Youth Voices curriculum is designed to empower youth to use technology to explore and creatively express their perspectives on issues impacting them and their communities. Students learn to create compelling videos, animations, photo essays, presentations, music, and other creative work that contribute their unique perspective on critical topics and inspire new solutions to long-standing problems.
It’s all about “creating with purpose.” When kids are creating high-impact work to share with local and global audiences
through the program, they are also building valuable skills that open doors to future success. Since 2006, more than 20,000 youth from over 30 countries have participated in Adobe Youth Voices programs to develop original, thought-provoking content on domestic violence, environmental degradation, the impacts of war, and other compelling topics. The results are frequently transformative, with youth building valuable creativity, communication, and collaboration skills essential for success in today’s competitive global economy.
Grants from the Sausalito Arts Festival Foundation over the past two years have ensured that Willow Creek has the technology it needs to get the program up and running, as well as access to talented Youth In Arts educators. Meanwhile, the Adobe Foundation has contributed free software, its “Youth Voices” curriculum and is funding a week-long intensive teacher training program in San Francisco this summer in which Willow Creek teachers, volunteers and Youth in Arts educators will participate. If you are a creative professional in our parent community and would like to attend the teacher training program this summer so that you can volunteer with the program next year, please let us know by email before June 6th.
