About Willow Creek Academy Mission Statement - (En Español)
Willow Creek Academy is a charter school formed to serve scholastically and socially prepared elementary school age students who demonstrate the ability and promise of succeeding in a challenging educational community. The school embraces, celebrates and welcomes a diverse school community. Willow Creek Academy is committed to providing an environment where children's individual learning styles are recognized and where teaching and learning consistently demonstrate and encourage respect, responsibilty and compassion. Critical to the student success at Willow Creek is the fulfillment of the Parent/School Contract reproduced below. One of the few consistent results of educational research, is that student success is dependent upon positive parent/family involvement. This has been shown to be true regardless of socio-economic level or any other demographic classification. This is why Willow Creek insists upon parent involvement in the School.
Parent/School Contract – Parents or guardians of each student will enter into an agreement to:
-- Ensure their child is “school ready” every day: present on time, well rested and nourished, clothed in conformity with school standards, and academically prepared
-- Commit 50 hours during each school year or such hours deemed appropriate by the Board of Directors
-- Attend scheduled parent/teacher conferences as well as individual conferences as requested by their child’s teachers
-- Authorize such testing as may be requested by school authorities to diagnose their child’s academic and/or social competencies or deficiencies
-- Commit to continuing and encouraging their child’s education in the home, through both actively encouraging reading and homework after school and through spending time with their child in “extra-curricular” activities.
