Gardening
An essential part of learning is having access to hands-on experiences. The 1st grade class is divided into four garden groups, each with a different parent volunteer leader. They have been hard at work designing our garden bed into different sections, building a walking path, planting, watering, weeding, measuring, drawing what they see, and writing notes about their responsibilities as caretakers in their garden journals. We will soon be enjoying the "fruits (and vegetables) of our labor" when our seeds grow edible treats! These will include snap peas, carrots, and flowers.
