6th & 7th Grades - Pre-Algebra
8th Grade - Algebra I
There will be three math classes offered at WCA this year: Foundations for Algebra I (pre-Algebra I), Foundations for Algebra II (pre-Algebra II), and Algebra I. All three classes will study the fundamentals of Algebra including: integers, distributive property, probability, area and volume, solving equations, and graphing. In all classes, the students will be asked to push the limits of their thinking to solve problems with real-world applications. Emphasis is on a deep and creative understanding of mathematics as the language of pattern, rather than rote memorization of algorithms and formulae. Students can expect to be given homework daily in this class.
