In the spring of 2006, with the advent of Willow Creek reaching its goal of having a K-8th grade school, it became painfully apparent that additional space was necessary to properly house our classrooms and support programs. Our chartering agency, the Sausalito Marin City School District, was able to provide us with one additonal space, but we realized that we needed a minimum of one more classroom. As a result, in the summer of 2006, we began the process to purchase and install a modular classroom to house our 4th grade class. We fully expected to have that classroom installed and in use in the fall of 2006.
Regrettably, the incredibly onerous requirements of California's Division of State Architect have kept our 4th grade from occupying the new classroom until Fall, 2007. After spending approximately $150,000 on infrastructure for the project (not including the lease-purchase of the modular classroom itself), we will finally be able to occupy the classroom early in 2008. Having raised $83,900.00 through Fall of 2007 for the project, this leaves us with the urgent need to raise a further $66,000 to meet all our obligations for these site improvements. Please give as generously as you can to help us meet this need.
